CourtyardThe Reeler Centre courtyard and Page Break coffee shop development

With the support of the PHS community, including generous donations from two families, the courtyard adjacent to the Reeler Centre was paved, greened and fitted with tables, benches and umbrellas. In addition, the coffee shop - "Page Break" - within the Centre was developed, and this facility was opened in July 2011.

Science laboratories

Courtesy of generous donations from the Nedbank Foundation and the BoE Educational Foundation, two laboratory upgrades were completed during 2011.

SIAT (International Assessment testing)

In pursuing its commitment to being a world-class school, Pinelands High submits each pupil to annual International Assessment tests (SIAT). The information gleaned from these tests is extremely useful in determining how we measure up against an international standard, in identifying pupils in need of additional support, for subject streaming and to highlight those areas of teaching in need of particular attention. We were very grateful to receive funding from the BoE Educational Foundation to cover the cost of the tests for 2010 and 2011.

Maths programme

In 2011 we again received support from the Epoch and Optima Trusts to fund our extended mathematics programme at the school. This includes the cost of one additional teacher, part-time tutors who run free daily support sessions, as well as certain equipment costs. We are extremely grateful for their support, which has been renewed for 2012.

Classroom refurbishments

Pinelands High has continued to refurbish classrooms, providing a fresh coat of paint, blinds, shelves, desks, white boards and digital projectors where needed.
