Pinelands High School is a fee-paying school, and most of our running costs are borne by the fees that our parents pay. This leaves little for expenditure on capital items or improvements to the school's facilities and programmes.
In order to meet our future as a world-class school, Pinelands High has embarked on a strategic fundraising programme. The projects that we will be focusing on in the next five years have been identified as priorities in the life of the school, and are divided into three broad categories, namely:
Long-term high capital project (over R5 million):
Campus upgrade that will allow for a Music and Arts Complex, as well as improved work areas and reception
Medium-term, medium capital projects (up to R1 million):
A mini-astro turf and lights
Upgrading of our science labs
Upgrading of our library into a resource centre
Renovation of the swimming pool
Refurbishment of the prefab and other classrooms
Short-term educational programmes, such as funding for Maths and Science learning.
Our fundraising strategy will include approaching companies, trusts and foundations, as well as our Alumni. This strategy has already borne fruit with funding received from our Alumni for some of the medium-term projects (see Alumni Funding Documents), and from the Epoch and Optima Trusts for Maths Funding (read how this funding is being used on the Epoch and Optima page), as well as lap-top computers from the Dell Foundation for our Science Labs.
