Pinelands High School is thrilled to report that we have received a grant from the Epoch and Optima Trusts, to be used to further improve the maths programme at the school.
The Epoch and Optima Trusts, which were founded by Anglo American in March 2007, have chosen to focus on the mathematics challenges in schools. Through the donation of funds to schools, the Trust aims to increase:
The number of learners participating in maths
The number of disadvantaged learners who have access to quality education; and
The quality of maths results.
The generous donation to Pinelands High School will enable the following:
The appointment of an additional maths teacher, thus allowing for smaller maths classes for all our learners;
The introduction of an afternoon maths programme for those learners who wish to receive additional assistance;
The introduction of further smart boards in our maths classrooms; and
The purchase of equipment to lighten the administrative load for teachers, thus freeing up teaching time.
