Pinelands High's 2013 production will be "The Sound of Music", the final musical written by Rodgers and Hammerstein. "The Sound of Music" is based on the memoirs of Maria von Trapp, "The Story of the Trapp Family Singers".
The original Broadway production opened in November 1959, and has enjoyed numerous productions and revivals since then. In 1965 "The Sound of Music" was adapted as a film starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. It won five Academy Awards.
"The Sound of Music" is well-loved for its many familiar songs; such as "Eidelweiss", "Do-re-mi", "My favourite things" and the title song "The Sound of Music".
"The Sound of Music" will run at Pinelands High from 11 - 17 August 2013.
