We have a number of active societies at the school, allowing pupils to become involved in something of interest to them. It also gives our pupils the opportunity to take a leadership role in a particular area. Our clubs and societies are as follows:

Christian Union - Christian Union, which runs all year, is a pupil-led society that aims to develop and strengthen members' relationship with God. Apart from various weekly meetings, the CU holds an annual camp open to all grades, towards the end of March. "I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Debating - Dedicated to the art of debating, the Debating Society teaches pupils how to research topics, gain an understanding of all perspectives, prepare arguments and counter-arguments, and the logical flow of a debate. The Society is involved in debates against other schools, and runs throughout the year.

First Aid - PHS has a qualified First Aid team who provide professional cover for a range of conditions, injuries and situations during sporting events, field trips and school camps. Selected pupils undergo Level 1 training; and are required to perform first aid duties on a roster basis.

Interact - "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizen can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." (Margaret Mead). Interact's aim is to help those less fortunate, and assist those in need in our communities. Interact runs a number of projects through the year to raise money for charity. These include an annual Rose Day, cake and ice-cream sales, brown money drive, catering for school events and an annual Bingo Evening.

Muslim Students' Association - The MSA's aim is to provide a spiritual bridge for Muslim pupils at the school, to promote understanding of Islam, and to raise funds for various charitable causes. The highlight of this is the traditional Iftaar at the end of Ramadaan, where we invite those less fortunate in our community to share in this special occasion. "Assamulakam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatahu" (May the peace and blessings of God be with you).

Outdoor Club - The Outdoor Club organises regular hikes (both day and overnight hikes) in the Western Cape. Parents, siblings and pupils are all welcome to join.

Photographic Club - The aim of the Photographic Club is to learn about the craft of photography, emphasising the creativity of this art medium. It provides a place to share and discuss pictures taken. Members meet on a weekly basis, and are given various topics to photograph.

School newspaper - "Pine News", the school's newspaper, is produced once a term. It is a newspaper written by pupils for pupils, and covers a wide variety of topics.
