New Principal Appointment

An interim committee comprising members of the School's Governing Body and senior staff members has been set up to drive the process of finding a new Principal for Pinelands High.

This committee is committed to finding the best person for the job, according to the following criteria:

Proven leadership abilities
Experience at senior school management level
Excellent human relationship skills
Ability to manage a diverse staff
Excellent public relations skills
Ability to interact with the school community with confidence
Strategic planning ability
Good management and administrative skills

27 Jan	Core criteria and additional criteria proposed, future Principal profiled and timeline set (Complete)
4 Feb	Proposed criteria circulated to staff for comment (Complete)
5 Feb	Staff discussion on proposed criteria
9 Feb	Post appears in WCED Vacancy List
9 Feb	(Fincom meeting) Proposed criteria put to full SGB, and advert for newspaper finalised
9 Feb	Discussion in tutor class on "Five top competencies wanted in the new Principal"
10 Feb	Feedback from tutor class and further discussion with prefects and RCL (voluntary for any other pupils)
13/22 Feb	Advert to appear in various national weekend newspapers, SAPA website and PHS website
16 Feb	(SGB meeting) Selection Committee determined and dates set for interviews
2 Mar	Closing date for applications to WCED
9 Mar	PHS receives applications from WCED
13 Mar	Selection Committee finalises criteria and sets questions. Envelopes are opened and a shortlist of candidates is drawn up
20-21 Mar	Selection Committee interviews candidates
14 Apr	SGB nominates preferred candidates to WCED
12 May	Applicants and school informed by WCED
1 July	Date of appointment (if internal appointment)
1 Oct	Date of appointment (if external appointment)
